Herrin- Teresa Rose Isaacs, 89, of Herrin, passed away at 9:40 PM, Friday, March 21, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.

Teresa was born on July 15, 1935 in Murphysboro, IL to Charles L. and Magdalen (Riggio) Stevens.  She was united in marriage to Cecil James Isaacs of Glidden, IA on February 7, 1959 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Murphysboro.  He preceded her in death on February 8, 2001.

She graduated from St. Andrew's Grade School and Murphysboro Township High School.  She attended St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield and graduated in 1958 as an R. N. Teresa earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1979 from the University of Evansville, IN and a Master of Science in Education in 1985 from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.  She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years prior to her retirement.

After retiring, Teresa and Cecil served as parish nurses for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Throughout her life Teresa was a leader in scouting, civic and service organizations.  She was a role model and mentor to many young people.  She loved cats and Coca-Cola.

Survivors include her daughter- Elizabeth and husband Carl Spezia of Herrin; sister- Sue Hawthorne of Murphysboro; sister-in-law Shirley Isaacs-Sailors of Dunlap, IA; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Cecil James Isaacs, Jr., sister- Jean Tweedy, sister-in-law Betty Mentzer, and brothers in law- Jim Tweedy, Mike Hawthorne, Paul Mentzer and Ray Isaacs.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.  Fr. Mark Reyling will officiate.  Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.

Memorial donations may be offered to OLMC/New School Fund and will be accepted at the church or mailed to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home/501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL  62948.
