Sheila Wynn Billingsley, 69, of rural Goreville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones, on May 11, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, in Evansville, Indiana, as a result of an accidental fall at home.
Sheila was born on March 1, 1957, to J.W. and Nina Jenkins. They preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Eddie Dale Billingsley. She was a wonderful mother to three amazing children, Sarah (Jeff) Jones, Rachel (Jason) Forby, and Joshua (Jordan) Billingsley, all of Goreville. She was a proud grandma to 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and one great grandson. Keegan, Kanon, and Kellan Jones, Ryder, Hayes, and Lydia Billingsley, Shae (Austin) Stiff, son Jace, and Emma (Timothy) Plott. She is also survived by her brother Randy (Diana) Jenkins, of Goreville, Sister-in-law Paula (Charles) Atwood of Vienna, nephew Curtis Jenkins, niece Lauren (Caleb) Reeder, and nephew Caleb (Melissa) Atwood, and their families.
Sheila was a florist and designer for life. She retired from owning her own floral shop, Garden Gate Florist, in Marion, in 2015. Since that time, she spent countless hours watching her grandchildren, attending endless ball games, preparing for showers and weddings, and various activities for each of them. She was proud of being their grandma, and it was her greatest joy in life. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, decorating her house, doing her nails, shopping, coordinating the perfect outfit and accessories, telling Eddie what to do, and gardening in her yard. She also loved to travel and had been on multiple Viking Cruises to Alaska, Norway, the Arctic Circle, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. She had already planned to visit Antarctica with her daughter in the coming year. Her favorite place to visit was Yellowstone National Park and she had been there with Eddie, their children, and grandchildren many times.
She and Eddie attended numerous churches throughout the years where she played the piano for many congregations. She most recently attended Spillertown Baptist Church north of Marion, Illinois.
Services for Sheila have been entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Services in Herrin, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, from 5-8 p.m. at Spillertown Baptist Church/110 North Spillertown Road/ Marion, IL 62959. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Steve Shea. Burial will follow at Billingsley Family Cemetery located on the family farm where she can watch her flowers bloom, her grandchildren grow and enjoy overlooking each family gathering.
In lieu of flowers which may or may not meet Sheila's standards, memorial contributions can be made to Spillertown Baptist Church and will be accepted during services or mailed to McCluskie Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL 62948.
