It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Jane Patton, who left us peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on October 26, 1954, in Hazard, Kentucky, Sandra brought joy to her family and friends throughout her life. She lived in Marion, Illinois, where she touched the lives of many in her community.
Sandy dedicated her career to the manufacturing industry, working diligently as a laborer at Aisin Manufacturing in Marion. While she pursued education and personal growth, (she also worked as a teacher's aid for many years. She adored working there and assisting all the kids), she will be remembered not only for her work ethic but also for her nurturing spirit and infectious warmth.
A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sandy is survived by her loving husband, David Patton; her daughter, Kristy (Kristopher) Hess and their children- Landon, Myka, Kayden, Kollin and Kohen; and her oldest son- Michael (Alisha) Akers and their children-Dakota, Chase, Micha, Megan, Maddy, Morgan and Logan, and youngest son- Todd Akers; step sons- Daniel (Shelby) Patton and their children- Reagan, Andi, Lucas and Claira; and Donny (Ashley) Patton and their children- Andrew and Hailey; 10 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and beloved dear friend- Lucilla Danner.
Sandy was an active member of Faith Assembly Fellowship in West Frankfort where she found joy and camaraderie at the Women's Meetings. Her love for life extended beyond her work and church; she was a devoted gardener, demonstrating her love for the beauty of flowers and the outdoors, an avid traveller and enjoyed family and church cookouts.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor, reflecting on the cherished memories and the brightness she brought into our lives. This gathering will take place at Faith Assembly Fellowship/1819 Everett Street/ West Frankfort, Illinois 62896 on May 9, 2026. Friends, family, and all those whose lives were touched by Sandy are invited to come together to celebrate her extraordinary life.
Sandy's earthly remains will be cremated with care, following her wishes, on April 30, 2026.
As we mourn her loss, we will forever hold the sweet memories of Sandy Patton close to our hearts. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire us all. Sandy never met a stranger and she loved to laugh and make people laugh. She had an infectious personality that will be dearly missed.
Sandy was preceded in death by: parents- Raleigh Danner, Mina Danner, step son- David Patton, Jr and siblings Freda, Tommy and Bobby.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the church or mailed to McCluskie Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/Herrin, Illinois 62948.
