It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Richard Alan Mock, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world on March 31, 2026, at the age of 59. Richard was born on June 22, 1966, in Coatesville, PA, and spent his final years in Marion, IL, surrounded by love.Richard was a dedicated and spirited man, having devoted eight years to serving our country in the Army and an additional eight years in the Navy, where he bravely participated in Desert Storm. Following his military service, he found his passion as a truck driver, most recently with Sisbro Trucking in Quincy, where he embraced the open road with a gypsy's spirit and a thirst for adventure.Known affectionately to his family as "Grumpy," Richard's demeanor softened in his later years, revealing a man full of warmth and compassion. He cherished his family deeply, spending joyful times with his wife, Katherine Mock, and their two daughters, Elena Dawson and Erica Decker. His siblings, Bob, Debbie, and Steven Mock, also felt the unwavering love and support he offered throughout his life. his three grandchildren- Mila, Lola and Elias were particular joys in his life.A Celebration of Life will be held in Richard's honor on June 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, allowing all who knew and loved him to come together to share stories and memories, celebrating a life well-lived. Following his wishes, Richard will be cremated, with arrangements being entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be accepted at McCluskie Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, Illinois.In this time of loss, let us remember Richard as an adventurous spirit whose love for family and friends will forever remain in our hearts.
