Obituary

Herrin- Paul D. Haynes, 84, of Herrin, passed away at 5:45 PM, Friday, August 15, 2025 at the home of his son.

Paul was born in Williamson County to Paul and Audrey (Grounds) Haynes. He was a high school graduate and a member of the Army National Guard. He served proudly while in the reserves and was honorably discharged.

After his military service he dedicated his life to his work; first as a laborer on the garment line of Smoller Brothers in Herrin until its eventual shut down and then later on the loading dock of Dillards in Marion. He retired in 2023.

He faithfully attended Ferges Free Methodist Church where he played the piano for many years and most recently he attended Cornerstone in Marion. He enjoyed fellowship with his friends at McDonalds in Marion and kept himself busy tending to his yard or working around the house.

He is survived by his only son- Mike Haynes and wife Wendy of Herrin; grandchildren- Paul Haynes and wife Abby of Herrin and Josh Haynes and wife Katie of Herrin; great grandchildren- Addi, Paisley and Finley Haynes and Daniel Haynes all of Herrin; brother in law- Jerry Beasley as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Sharon Beasley.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Herrin City Cemetery. Rev. Ted Cunningham will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside beginning at 10:30 AM, Wednesday. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the graveside or may be mailed directly to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL 62948.
