It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Dean Barger, 60, of Herrin, who left us peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Herrin Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1965 in Murphysboro, IL to Jerry and Helen (Manion) Barger. On August 8, 1987 he married the love of his life, Deena (Griffith) Barger, and together they shared thirty eight years of devoted marriage, filled with love and companionship. They enjoyed traveling, eating out and spending time together.

Paul is survived by his wife Deena; his sister- Debbie Nielsen and husband Bill of Indiana; a niece- Amanda Nielsen; nephew- Michael Nielsen; sisters in law- Jodi Doughty and husband Pat and Tracy Wille; both of Arizona as well as numerous great nieces and nephews in Arizona. He is also survived by great friends- Robert Jilek and Sherry Burns; both of Herrin and his beloved cat- "Ziggy".

Paul was a disc jockey at WHPI in Herrin early in his career and spent his remaining years working in retail management.

He had a passion for music of many different genres, a good meal, a fun trip, cars and Coca Cola. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He will be cremated and arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Home in Herrin.
