Mary Ann
Houston
October 3, 1957 – January 25, 2026
Herrin- Mary Ann, a vibrant soul and a true free spirit, peacefully ascended to Heaven on January 25th 2026, in her daughter's home in Herrin, Illinois. She was held during her final moments by all 3 of her daughters.
Born on October 3, 1957, in East St. Louis to the late Jack and Juanita Tinsley-Theriac, Mary Ann spent her life spreading warmth and joy to everyone she met.
Mary Ann was a wildflower in every sense of the word - untamed, beautiful, and resilient. She fought cancer with everything she had for over 18 months, facing every challenge with a level of bravery that inspired everyone around her. Even in the hardest moments, she remained the person her family loved: full of laughter and a caregiver in every aspect of life.
To know Mary Ann was to be drawn to her light; her soul was simply vibrant. She was a woman who loved the simple joys—music, antiques, and tending to her houseplants. She taught those around her to find the rhythm in life and to never miss an opportunity to celebrate the moment. Her kind and caring nature was a gift to her family, and her radiant energy will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to cross her path.
Mary Ann's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her three daughters and her son-in-law:
Melissa "Missy" Boyd-Orr of Herrin, IL, Virginia "Jen" Housley-Horn of Herrin, IL, Amanda "Mandy" Housley-Fillingim and husband Alex Fillingim of West Frankfort, IL
Her spirit lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Jacob Orr, Ayden Orr, Zach Horn, Ryan Housley, Damian Rogers, and Evelynn Angone. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Theriac Jr. of Benton, KY.
Mary Ann now joins her parents, Jack and Juanita; her sister, Sandra Theriac-Riggs; and her brother, Frederick Theriac, in eternal peace.
In honor of Mary Ann's wishes, a private celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Services in Herrin.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be mailed to McCluskie
Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
