Obituary

Carterville- Joshua Michael David "J.B." Brandon, 33, of Carterville, died at 1:45 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Carterville.

Josh was born on Mother's Day,  May 14, 1989, in Savannah, GA to Michael and Teresa (Taylor) Brandon.  He married Karyn Alicia Bloodworth on June 15, 2019, in Carbondale.  Josh was of Christian faith and attended Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church in Whiteash.

He was a hardworking young man who began working construction at various places before beginning a career in mining.  He started with Viking Coal in Macedonia and most recently worked as a roof bolter for Knight Hawk Coal in Pinckneyville.  Despite being hardworking he was dedicated to spending time with his beloved children and family.  He loved painting with Joselynn, golfing with Brooklynn, playing football with Gunner, coloring with Dawson and snuggling and snacking with Hudson.   He also enjoyed time with his brother and his buddies.  He was a talented guitarist and liked music from Elvis Presley and Whiskey Myers.  He was also a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldog and Indianapolis Colts.  He had a way of talking to anyone and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife- Karyn Brandon of Carterville; children- Joselynn and Brooklynn Brandon of Herrin and Dawson and Hudson Brandon of Carterville; step-son- Gunner Martin of Carterville; parents- Michael and Teresa Brandon of Carterville, brother- Taylor Brandon of Carterville, grandparents- Rev. Ralph and Barb Brandon of Carterville; mother and father-in-law- Robert and Julie Bloodworth, aunts and uncles- Richie Brandon and wife Paula of Herrin, Tracy Reis of Herrin, Christy Josten of Carterville and Travis Brandon and wife Rebecca of Herrin and Mark Taylor and wife Sherry of Nichols, GA, Sandra Lingerfelt of Hudson, FL, several cousins including Granny and Gramps "Divine Nine", one nephew; Everett Bloodworth and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Bud and Judy Nelson, Glenn Taylor, Darren Josten and brother-in-law- Matthew Bloodworth.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Christian Covenant Fellowship Church/1025 South Division in Carterville.  Rev. Ralph Brandon will officiate.  Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church/ 13339 Route 37 North in Marion, IL.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Services in Herrin.
