Energy- Janice Ann (Hutchison) Davis Mitchell, 77, of Energy, passed away at 12:25 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Janice was born on December 11, 1948 in Herrin to Horace C. and Eugenia B. (Scerena) Hutchison. She married Terry Davis on March 8, 1969 in Herrin and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2009. She later married Robert "Eric" Mitchell on October 12, 2024 in Energy.

She was an active member of Herrin Second Baptist Church as well as her Herrin High School class group affectionately known as the "Chicks of '66". She was a fantastic cook and well known for her delicious chicken and dumplings. In her spare time she enjoyed reading mystery novels and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband- Eric Mitchell of Energy; step- daughters- Christa (Danny) Cavitt of Carbondale and Tara Mitchell of Carterville; four step- grandchildren- Arron Stapleton, Lane Sykes, Haley Grant and Abby Dennis; sisters- Cindy Hutchison Winn of Energy and Sara Hutchison (Mark) Emery of Herrin; brother- Chuck (Anna) Hutchison of Livingston, TX; niece and nephews- Lindsay (Aaron) Campbell, Cody Hutchison, Darren Mitchell, Shawn Mitchell, Corinna Davis, Stacey Morris and Marie Delgado. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews; including- Ashton Oakley, Gehron & Halle Campbell and Wyatt Oakley and her close friend-Karen Woodis of Energy.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, first husband and brother-in-law- Daryl Winn.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 13, 2026 at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Pastor Josh Wehrmeier will officiate. Inurnment will follow. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside beginning at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 13, 2026 at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Home.

Memorial donations are suggested to Second Baptist Church of Herrin and may be mailed to McCluskie Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL 62948 or will be accepted at the graveside.
