Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guy Douglas Freeman, who left us peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 71 in Goreville, Illinois. Born on June 24, 1954, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Guy spent most of his life in El Centro, CA, creating a legacy of hard work and love that will be cherished by many.

A devoted family man, Guy leaves behind his beloved wife, Gloria Freeman, and their children: Jessica (Mike) Hogue of Redlands, California, Valerie (Brad) Orendoff of Carterville, Illinois, Jennifer (Brandon) Vallin of Folsom, California, and Daniel (Sami) Freeman of Goreville, Illinois. He was also a cherished brother to Wayne Freeman, Kay Crocco, and Casey Freeman. Guy was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one little one who will carry on his spirit. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and beloved dog- "Jada"

Guy dedicated over 30 years of his life as a lead operator in the oil industry, working tirelessly for Mobile Oil and Exxon. His hard work ensured that his family had everything they needed, and he retired from Pepsi Mid America in Marion, where he earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He had a strong Christian faith and attended the First Pentecostal Church of Goreville whenever he could, finding peace and community in his church family.

Away from work, Guy was passionate about his hobbies. He had a deep love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and classic cars, always eager to hit the open road. He was also a huge fan of the California Angels baseball team and enjoyed the beauty of west coast beaches like Pismo and Santa Monica Pier. Of all the things in Guy's life, he loved spending time with his kids and playing toys with his grandkids. Those who knew him will remember his feisty spirit, unwavering loyalty, and of course, his sweet tooth for cookies and candy. To quote Guy "All candy is good. Just some is better than others."

Cremation arrangements are being made. Family and friends will be invited to come together to honor Guy's remarkable life and share fond memories of his warmth and humor. Specific details regarding the time and date of the service will be announced soon.

Guy Douglas Freeman was a true force of nature who will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate within the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild- Axel Orendoff.
