Herrin- Earl M. Menckowski, 73, of Herrin, passed away at 10:47 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at his home in Herrin surrounded in comfort by his many loved ones.
Earl was born on April 30, 1951 in Herrin, Illinois to Steven F. and Fannie L. (Glisson) Menckowski. He married Vickie L. Van Order on February 1, 1970 in Fremont, California. She survives of Herrin.
Earl was a hardworking man and founded Earl Menckowski Drywall (now Menckowski Drywall) 50 years ago in Herrin. He retired in 2015 but still enjoyed riding along and helping out (offering advice) and spending time riding on his mower. When he had free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and hunting and fishing with his son. They enjoyed going on fishing trips to Kentucky Lake or Reel Foot Lake and hunting for rabbits and deer locally.
Earl was a Christian man of faith and attended West Monroe Apostolic Church with his beloved wife Vickie whenever he could make it.
Survivors include his wife- Vickie L. Menckowski of Herrin; son- Anthony (Krista) Menckowski of Royalton; daughters- Jamie Conaughty of Herrin and Stacy (Mark)Doggett of Zeigler; 7 grandchildren- Max, Sabrina, Thomas, Jenna, Michael, Austin and Sierra and 7 great grandchildren- Judah, Eila, Jace, Kinsley, Paisley, Chase and Cohen as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers- Steven and Ricky Dean Menckowski.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at West Monroe Apostolic Church/ 1609 West Monroe/ Herrin, IL 62948. Pastor Jordan Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of service, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.
Memorial donations are suggested to West Monroe Apostolic Church and will be accepted during the services or may be mailed to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL 62948. For more information, please visit www.mccluskiemillerfh.com.
