Sesser- David Alexander Bassett, 84, of Sesser, passed away at 6:45 AM, Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.

David was born on December 16, 1940 in Delton, Michigan to Floyd and Ruth (Hamilton) Bassett.  He married Elizabeth Overton on August 23, 1976 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She survives of Sesser.

David was a hard working man who managed several fast food chains throughout his career.  He retired as manager of the Mt. Vernon Fazoli's and worked at both the Marion and Carbondale locations after retirement.  He also managed several KFC's in different locations early in his career.

He was a Christian and very involved with spending time with his family.  He also loved to travel to Michigan to fish and spend time in his family's cottage.  David was a NASCAR fan and followed Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski.

Survivors include his beloved wife- Elizabeth Bassett of Sesser; children- Todd Hall and wife Vickie of Coello, Robert Smith and wife Amy of Crestwood, CO and Jennifer Kahl and husband Ron of Portage, Michigan; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; 8 brothers and sisters and 9 brothers and sisters in laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents and  sister- Geraldine and brother- Floyd, Jr.

He will be cremated and family services will held at Hammond Cemetery in Sesser.  A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Coello Community Center/ 9124 Main Street/ North City, IL.  Brother Curtis Overton will officiate.  Memorial services were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.
