Herrin- Dana K. Vaughn, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and great grandmother, left this world peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Dana was born on January 13, 1947, in Herrin, Illinois, to Harvey and Maxine (Aduddell) Montgomery, where she devoted her life to caring for others with deep compassion and unwavering faith.

Dana's kindness shone brightly throughout her 40-year career in healthcare, spending 20 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Mattingly's Nursing Home in Energy and another 20 years as a Pharmacy Technician for NCS Healthcare in Herrin. Her commitment to the well-being of her patients and the community was unmatched, as she often extended her caring spirit beyond her professional duties. She was known for her delicious baked goods, which she generously shared with visitors and made food baskets for Families in Crisis in Cairo, Illinois. Her love for her neighbors and those in need exemplified her faithful Christian spirit.

As a dedicated member of the Purpose House Church in Herrin, Dana found joy and purpose in her faith, regularly inspiring others with her genuine warmth and passion for helping those around her. She was a faithful organizer of the Herrin High School class of 1965 reunions and get togethers.

Dana is survived by her loving husband, Danny Vaughn; her devoted children, Stephen (Michele) Vaughn and Susan Vaughn; and her cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Corey and Cameron Vaughn, Madisyn Kendrick, and Morgan (Sean) Thornton as well as 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.. She is also survived by her twin brother, Dale (Lavere) Montgomery. Her legacy of love and service will live on in their hearts.

A public viewing will be held at Purpose House Church/ 124 Lou Ann Drive/ Herrin, IL 62948 on July 1, 2026, at 5:00 PM, providing family and friends an opportunity to gather and share cherished memories of Dana. The funeral service will take place the following day, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Purpose House Church. Pastor Jason McKinnies will officiate. Dana will be laid to rest following the service at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie Funeral Home in Herrin.

As we bid farewell to our dear Dana, let us remember her selfless spirit and the countless lives she touched, always embodying the values of compassion and love she held dear. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Jack Montgomery and great grandson- Braysen Vaughn.
