Marion- Clyde Raymond Farthing, 74, of Marion, passed away at 9:11 AM, Thursday, July 11, 2024 at his home comforted by his beloved family.

Clyde was born on April 16, 1950 in Carbondale to Stanton Lee and Juanita Pearl (Travelstead) Farthing.  He married his wife of 55 years, Paula A. Conley, on April 26, 1969 in Marion.

Mr. Farthing served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the US Federal Penitentiary in Marion as a General Mechanic.  Clyde was a member of Heights Church of God in West Frankfort where he served on the executive board and the worship team, and was also a member of Fellowship Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M. in Marion.  Clyde was well known for his love of guitars, guns and bluegrass music.

Clyde is survived by his wife- Paula A. Farthing of Marion, daughters- Loretta Broomfield and husband Robert, Cyla Stucker and husband Mark, son- Byron Farthing and wife Terra; six grandchildren- Ryleigh Billingsley and husband Thomas, Moriah Payne and husband Jacob, Caleb Evetts, Bailey McConnell and husband Garen, Audrey Farthing and Caroline Farthing; one great grandson- Shepherd McConnell, one brother- Bob Farthing and wife Linda, as well as a host of extended beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister - Elena Rice Disney and father-in-law and mother-in-law- Billy and Wilma Conley.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Southern Illinois Church of God Campground in West Frankfort, Illinois.  Service to begin at 6:00 PM with Masonic Rites to follow.
