Marion- Bruce Dale Simmons, 63, of Marion, passed away at 7:01 PM, Sunday, July 2, 2023 at his home.

Bruce was born on July 3, 1959 in DuQuoin to Glenn Thomas and Amelia Christine (Morril) Simmons.  He married Annita Jo Conley in 1984 at the First Church of God in Marion.

He was a hardworking man who received his CDL at age 21.  He drove a truck for Bowman Oil from 1976-2000 and then owned his own lawn mowing business- "Bruce's Lawn Service" and worked in the maintenance department for the Federal Housing.

Bruce was a Christian who never met a stranger.  He was mechanically inclined and liked to tinker with projects in his free time.  He was a caring man with a great sense of humor.  He never turned away from someone in need and cared deeply for his family and friends.  He enjoyed listening to Outlaw country and Classic rock music, especially Stevie Nicks and Bob Segar.  He was a St. Louis Cardinals and WWE Wrestling Fan.  He most enjoyed spending time at home in his pool with his beloved family.

Survivors include his wife- Anita Simmons of Marion and daughter- Cassie Simmons and Eli Iffert of DuQuoin; brothers- Tommy Simmons of Marion and Barry Simmons and wife Becky of Marion; sister- Debbie Patton and husband Mike of Mt. Eagle, TN and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law- Bill and Wilma Conley.

Bruce will be cremated and a celebration of Bruce's life will be held at a later date.  Memorial arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Services in Herrin.
