Herrin- Agnes M. Arhar (age101) passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Mason Christian Village, Mason, Ohio, with her daughter by her side.

Agnes was born December 30, 1923 to Anton and Mary Tanzely in Krayn, Pennsylvania. Agnes graduated from Adams Township High School and Cambria-Rowe Business College in Pennsylvania. She married Ernest B Arhar in 1951 in Dunlo, Pennsylvania. They have one daughter, Cynthia Arhar, of Mason OH.

Agnes and Ernest lived in Herrin, Illinois. Agnes was the bookkeeper for Ernest's business, Mining Industry Services. She was also an accomplished seamstress.

She lived with her daughter in Mason, Ohio, the last years of her life. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, Illinois and most recently St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason, Ohio.

Agnes is survived by her daughter and preceded in death by her parents, husband- Ernest Arhar, brother- Anthony Tanzely and sisters- Genevieve Callahan, Theresa Totten, Pauline Brence, Emily Tanzely, Christine Hrabcsak, and Mary Bavdek.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.  Fr. Mark Reyling will officiate.  Inurnment will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.  Memorial services were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.

Memorial donations are suggested to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church/School Fund and will be accepted at the church or may be mailed to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home/ 501 S. 12th/ Herrin, IL  62948.
